After staying in Saranda, Albania, for quite awhile, it was time to head back to Tirana.
We think we’ll have a couple more adventures in Tirana, and then we’re heading someplace new (more about that coming soon).

So there’s this thing in southern Albania called the Blue Eye.
It’s a spring out in the mountains between Saranda and Gjirokaster, and nobody really knows how deep it is.

After being in Saranda for a couple of weeks, it still feels like my kind of town.
The funny thing is, we weren’t even sure about going to Saranda at all…
Our original plan had been to take the intercity bus from Vlore to Saranda, then jump on a local bus to continue onward to Ksamil.
Ksamil is a small tourist beach town, maybe an expensive small tourist beach town that would normally be out of our budget, but we found a good deal on a place to stay there.
But then it all fell through and our plan was kind of a mess…
We set off on a bus ride that we thought would be pretty direct and only take a couple of hours, from Vlore to Saranda, Albania.
Nope.
More than four hours later, after traversing a highway that could have been a roller coaster, and enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery we’ve ever seen, we arrived mostly intact…
